The blurb about the traveling exhibit, from International Art & Artists:
Changing Identity features approximately 50 works by ten, contemporary Vietnamese artists who challenge the stereotypes and traditional roles of women in Vietnamese society. Each of these women has a particular way of shaping her work and of identifying herself that is both personal and universal. Through the use of various media, subject matters, and aesthetic sensibilities, the artists explore gender and cultural identity and offer a diversified view of Vietnam itself. A fully illustrated exhibition catalogue will accompany the national tour.
Changing Identity is supported in part by grants from the E. Rhodes and Leona B. Carpenter Foundation and The Henry Luce Foundation.Educational activities made possible by a grant from the Ford Foundation, Hanoi office, and fiscally administered by the Institute of International Education. This grant funds one artist and the exhibition curator to travel to each venue for educational programming.
The exhibit opens 20 June - 05 August. But, on July 11, there is a performance by artist Ly Hoang Ly & a talk by the curator. I'm looking forward to the event, as a group of us young folks from church will be attending.
